PHILOSOPHY

With 10 years of experience teaching within both International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge programs including MYP Science, IGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and A-Level Chemistry my educational philosophy centers on developing students who are curious, capable, and responsible learners. I believe education should extend beyond academic achievement to equip students with the skills, values, and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

The IB Learner Profile guides my teaching practice by shaping students into well-rounded individuals. I aim to nurture inquirers who ask thoughtful questions and explore scientific ideas deeply, and thinkers who apply critical and creative skills to solve problems. I encourage students to become effective communicators through discussion, collaboration, and clear scientific expression. I also emphasize the importance of being principled and open-minded, especially when engaging with ethical and global scientific issues. Reflection is a key part of my classroom, helping students grow into reflective learners who take ownership of their progress.

My teaching is further informed by the Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills. I intentionally develop students’ thinking, research, and communication skills through inquiry-based activities and scientific investigations. Collaboration and teamwork build social skills, while structured guidance helps students strengthen self-management skills such as organization, resilience, and time management. These skills are essential for success in both IB and Cambridge programs and beyond.

A central element of my pedagogy is Project-Based Learning (PBL). I design meaningful, real-world projects that allow students to apply scientific knowledge in authentic contexts. Whether investigating environmental challenges, exploring sustainable solutions, or conducting experiments, students actively engage in their learning. This approach fosters deeper understanding, creativity, and independence, while also promoting collaboration and problem-solving.

I recognize the diversity of learners in my classroom and differentiate instruction to meet varying needs and abilities. From supporting foundational understanding in MYP Science to guiding advanced analytical thinking in A-Level Chemistry, I aim to challenge and support every student. Assessment is used not only to measure learning but to guide improvement, with continuous feedback and opportunities for reflection.

Ultimately, I see my role as a facilitator of learning who creates an inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating environment. By integrating the IB Learner Profile, ATL skills, and Project-Based Learning, I strive to develop students who are knowledgeable, reflective, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world.
